Tasting Notes

Most commercially available halloumi today is made from cows milk, although traditionally authentic halloumi should be made from a combination of sheep and goat milk.

Ewes milk has about twice the fat solids of other milk types, which means when you grill or fry your cheese, you'll get that incredible restaurant quality texture and crispy brown crust. The addition of goat milk adds texture and elasticity.

Aphrodite Halloumi is hand selected by cheese expert Will Studd, for its quality and adherence to tradition. The pieces are hand formed in to pockets and made with 70% ewes milk and 30% goat milk. It is also available in a pure goat milk option, which is incredibly tasty, a little firmer with a lemony tang.

Ordering cheese online

Fine cheese is highly perishable and seasonal, so buying person when possible is best. Read our buying guide here for tips from our cheesemonger.

When ordering online, sizes are approximate for cheeses cut from the wheel. As such, prices may differ slightly from purchasing in store. If the cheese you have ordered is not available or not in peak condition, our cheesemonger will be in touch to arrange a suitable substitute. You can also call the store on 4655 4336 prior to placing an order for guidance from our team.
