Travertine, like marble, may contain small cracks, fissures and pits that are characteristic of this authentic product.  It is naturally porous so please treat with care. Avoid abrasive cleaners and cutting on the surface. Oily and acidic substances, as well as strongly pigmented foodstuffs are particularly harmful to the surface. Only use stone soap or neutral / low pH dish liquid with warm water to clean.
