EPICURE
noun /ˈɛpɪkjʊə,ˈɛpɪkjɔː/
a person who takes particular pleasure in fine food and drink.
Epicure is a specialty cheese store and providore based in the beautiful heritage township of Camden, NSW. The store was founded by owner Renee Sillato in 2013 as an expression of her own obsession with cheese, wine and all things fine. We're devoted to the pursuit of simple pleasures. We’re all about bringing little luxuries into the everyday, and celebrating every moment with good food and every occasion with a memorable gift.
Fine cheese has been our passion from the start, but with seven years of experience, travel and constant pursuit of knowledge, we’ve refined our range to include only the best of Australian and imported cheeses. We select cheese for pleasure and quality, then trace its history to share an understanding of its provenance with our community. For us, learning about the who, what and where of the origin of our food is as important as the taste itself and we love sharing this knowledge with you.
Because cheese loves company, we’ve curated a small but sensational range of accompaniments to balance out your board. We source our products with consideration for quality, ethics and ingredients. Most of our pairings are handmade in Australia by small, family run businesses. Think honey from local beekeepers, small batch pickles, seasonal chutneys and olives hand harvested from Australian groves.
Our shelves are filled with an ever-evolving selection of savoury snacks, sweet treats, fresh pastries and sourdough, handmade wares and other beautiful things. You can always find a lavish treat for yourself or a memorable gift for a loved one.
OUR CAMDEN STORE
EST. 2013
Our original store in Camden, NSW is housed in an charming heritage cottage built in 1840 for the family of Henry Thompson, an early prominent business man and miller of Camden. Later it was the residence of Captain William Larkin, auctioneer and Mayor of Camden. It is possibly the oldest surviving private house in the Camden township.
We acknowledge the Dhawaral people as the traditional custodians of land on which we work and pay our respect to their elders past, present and emerging.
From 2014-2020 we operated a busy eatery on the peaceful veranda that wraps around our little cottage, and we loved doing lunch the locals for those years. We closed our kitchen in May 2020 to focus on our retail and online store to spread our love of cheese further afield.
